SaunaBirds – Customer Terms & Conditions & Participant Waiver

By booking or participating in any sauna or ice bath session provided by SaunaBirds Ltd, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Nature of the Activity & Assumption of Risk

Sauna use and coldwater immersion involve exposure to heat, steam, cold water, temperature variation, and physical exertion. These are inherently hazardous activities, even when properly supervised.

Risks may include (but are not limited to):

  • heat stress, dehydration, or burns

  • dizziness, fainting, or loss of consciousness

  • cold shock, panic response, or hypothermia

  • slips, trips, or falls

  • aggravation of preexisting medical conditions

By participating, you voluntarily assume all inherent risks associated with sauna and ice bath use and choose to participate at your own discretion.

2. Health & Medical Responsibility

By booking and attending, you confirm that:

  • You are 16 years of age or over.

  • You are medically fit to participate in sauna and coldwater immersion activities.

  • You do not have, or have been medically cleared if applicable, any condition that may be adversely affected by heat or cold exposure, including but not limited to:

    • heart or cardiovascular conditions

    • You have had a heart attack or stroke

    • uncontrolled high or low blood pressure

    • Are taking any medication

    • epilepsy, seizures, or fainting disorders

    • severe asthma or respiratory illness

    • pregnancy (unless medically advised and disclosed)

    • any condition affected by rapid temperature change

You acknowledge that SaunaBirds staff are not medical professionals and are entitled to rely on the accuracy of your declarations.

If you are unsure whether participation is appropriate, you accept responsibility for seeking medical advice before booking.

3. Participant Conduct & Safety Obligations

You agree to:

  • Follow all verbal safety briefings, posted signage, and staff instructions at all times.

  • Comply with maximum session durations and capacity limits.

  • Enter and exit the sauna and ice baths slowly and carefully.

  • Monitor your own physical condition and remain adequately hydrated.

  • Immediately exit the sauna or ice bath if you feel unwell, dizzy, breathless, panicked, numb, or uncomfortable.

  • Wear appropriate footwear when moving around the site outside the sauna.

SaunaBirds Ltd reserves the right to refuse entry or terminate participation where continued involvement may pose a safety risk to you or others. No refund will be due in such circumstances.

4. Fire, Stove & Equipment Safety

  • The sauna is woodfired and operated only by trained SaunaBirds staff.

  • Customers must not touch or interfere with the stove, flue, fire tools, ash containers, or any equipment marked “staff only”.

  • Any safety concern must be reported to staff immediately.

Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the session.

5. Sauna Etiquette & Prohibited Items

For safety and hygiene reasons:

       . Please remove any hanging jewellery as it can get very and burn

      . Take care on the steps going in and out

  • Footwear is not permitted inside the sauna.

  • Glass bottles or containers are strictly prohibited in and around the sauna and ice baths.

  • Mobile phones, electronic devices, and cameras are not permitted inside the sauna.

  • Nudity is not permitted at any SaunaBirds session.

SaunaBirds Ltd may refuse participation or end a session where these rules are not followed.

6. Ice Baths & ColdWater Immersion

  • Ice bath use is optional and undertaken entirely at the participant’s own discretion.

  • You acknowledge risks associated with coldwater immersion, including cold shock and panic response.

  • SaunaBirds staff do not instruct, supervise, or encourage head submersion as part of any session.

  • If you choose to submerge your head, you do so entirely at your own risk and outside guided activity.

  • You must exit immediately if you experience breathlessness, panic, numbness, dizziness, or discomfort.

7. Dock Swimming (Queens Dock) – Not Included

Participation in a SaunaBirds sauna or ice bath session does not include swimming or immersion in Queens Dock (or any other open water).

  • SaunaBirds Ltd does not provide, supervise, or permit dock swimming as part of its services.

  • Access to Queens Dock for swimming requires a separate booking and agreement directly with Liverpool Watersports Centre (LWC) and is subject to their own safety rules, supervision, and liability arrangements.

  • Any decision to swim in the dock is made independently of SaunaBirds and entirely at your own risk.

SaunaBirds Ltd accepts no responsibility or liability for dock swimming or water activities operated by LWC.

8. Changing & Toilet Facilities (Liverpool Watersports Centre)

  • Customers may use changing and toilet facilities provided by Liverpool Watersports Centre (LWC) when such facilities are available.

  • These facilities are owned, managed, and operated by LWC, not by SaunaBirds Ltd.

  • Use of LWC changing rooms and toilets is entirely at the customer’s own risk and subject to LWC’s rules, availability, and conditions of use.

  • SaunaBirds Ltd does not supervise, maintain, or control these facilities and accepts no responsibility or liability for their condition, availability, or use.

9. Personal Property

All personal belongings are brought onto site at your own risk. SaunaBirds Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.

10. Liability & Legal Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;

  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or

  • any liability which cannot be excluded under UK law.

Subject to this, SaunaBirds Ltd shall not be liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from:

  • failure to follow safety instructions or guidance;

  • inaccurate or incomplete health disclosures;

  • voluntary overexposure to heat or cold beyond recommended limits.

11. Booking, Attendance & Refunds

  • Bookings are nonrefundable, except where required by law.

  • Sessions start promptly; late arrival may result in shortened participation or nonattendance without refund.

  • SaunaBirds Ltd reserves the right to cancel or suspend sessions for safety, weather, or operational reasons.

12. Photography & Media

Photography or video may take place for marketing or promotional purposes. Please inform staff prior to your session if you do not wish to appear in images or footage.

13. Online Acceptance & Records

These Terms form part of a legally binding online booking contract. Acceptance is recorded electronically at the time of booking (date and time stamped).

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
